Terms of Use
RiskCalc is an educational calculator published by Summer Labs LLC. It does not give investment advice, and these terms explain what its numbers can and cannot tell you.
Last updated October 5, 2026
RiskCalc is published by Summer Labs LLC ("we", "us") and is provided as-is as an educational position-sizing calculator. By using the app you agree to the following:
1. Not financial advice
RiskCalc does not provide investment, financial, tax, legal, or trading advice. Nothing in the app is a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy or sell any security, option, or other financial instrument. Summer Labs LLC is not a broker-dealer or a registered investment adviser.
Every number RiskCalc shows (position size, shares or contracts, position value, risk per unit, total risk, R-multiple targets, reward-to-risk ratios, and Journal statistics) is arithmetic performed on the numbers you entered. The app knows nothing about the market, your broker, your finances, or your objectives.
2. What the calculations leave out
Results assume your orders fill exactly at the entry and stop prices you enter. Real trading does not work that way. Slippage, price gaps (overnight, at the open, or around news), trading halts, partial fills, commissions, fees, borrow costs on short positions, and margin requirements can all make an actual loss larger than the risk the app calculates. Options carry further risks the app does not model, including the total loss of the premium paid, early assignment, and changes in implied volatility.
Quantities are rounded down to whole shares or contracts. RiskCalc does not check your buying power or your broker's margin rules; a warning that a position is larger than your account is informational only.
You are solely responsible for checking every calculation and every order before you place it.
3. Trading involves risk
Trading stocks and options involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. You can lose more than you planned and, with margin or short positions, more than you deposited. Results recorded in the Journal do not indicate future results.
4. Your data
Your Journal is stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, mirrored to your own private iCloud database so it is backed up and available on your other Apple devices. That mirror is Apple's infrastructure under your Apple Account, not a service we operate; we cannot read it and are not sent a copy. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any loss of data, however caused, including iCloud being unavailable, disabled, full, or failing to sync.
5. Price
RiskCalc is currently free. If we add paid features or advertising, these terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated before that version is released.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer the app or use it in any way that violates applicable law.
7. Changes to the app and terms
We may update the app and these terms over time. The current version is always at summerlabs.dev/riskcalc/terms, and continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
8. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
RiskCalc is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Summer Labs LLC is not liable for any trading losses, lost profits, or direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the app or any number it produces.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of West Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or to the app will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in West Virginia, and you and Summer Labs LLC each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section stops either of us from bringing a qualifying claim in a small-claims court instead.
10. Apple
These terms are an agreement between you and Summer Labs LLC, not Apple. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of RiskCalc, and where the two conflict, these terms apply to the extent the Apple agreement allows.
11. Contact
Questions about these terms or the app go to contact@summerlabs.dev.
By using RiskCalc, you acknowledge and accept these terms.
